Ask an Artist: Insurance

Ask an Artist: Insurance

Season 6, Episode 15: Insurance

As a working artist, do you need insurance? The short answer is yes, you probably do and for the longer answer, listen to this episode.

Peter and Tom discuss the different types of insurance you might need, dependent upon what your business practice entails. This might include property, contents, business interruption, public liability, and possibly employer’s liability.

In the second part of the episode they share a couple of practical ideas for finding an insurance company to work with and key things to check you are covered for, such as exhibiting work on location or maybe travelling with your equipment.

This week’s takeaway…although insurance might seem like yet another expense, especially when you first start out, not only is it a requirement in a lot of cases but the reassurance, peace of mind and credibility it brings to your business, is undeniable. It is often not as expensive as you might think and it is always better than not having it, should the worst happen.
